Built for Obsidian Users, By an Obsidian User

TaskForge started because I wanted a better way to manage my Obsidian tasks on mobile, with real widgets and push notifications. Nothing like that existed, so I built it.

Why TaskForge Exists

I got into Obsidian in 2024 and pretty quickly moved my whole life into it. Notes, projects, ideas, daily journals. It became my second brain. But task management on mobile was always a pain point. The Obsidian Tasks plugin is fantastic on desktop, but on your phone? No widgets, no notifications, no native experience.

I tried a bunch of workarounds. Shortcuts automations, third-party sync tools, custom scripts. None of it felt right. The core problem was simple: Obsidian is a desktop-first tool, and its mobile app is built for note-taking, not task management. There was no way to glance at your tasks from a home screen widget, get a push notification when something was due, or quickly add a task without opening the full app.

So I built what I wanted: a native app that reads and writes directly to your Obsidian vault, with all the mobile features you would expect from a modern task manager. Not a web wrapper or an Electron shell, but real native apps built with platform-specific technologies for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Android.

One of the most important decisions early on was making TaskForge fully compatible with the Obsidian Tasks plugin markdown format. That way it slots right into any existing Obsidian workflow. No migration, no lock-in, no changes to your vault files. If you already use the Tasks plugin on desktop, TaskForge just works with the same data.

Today, TaskForge is used by over 20,000 Obsidian users worldwide. What started as a simple task viewer has grown into a full task management system with kanban boards, calendar views, interactive widgets, smart notifications, GTD support, and deep linking for automation. And your data stays in plain markdown, right where it belongs.

The Builder

Azhar Dewji

Hey! I'm Azhar Dewji, an indie developer based in Toronto, Canada. I got into Obsidian in 2024 and it quickly became the center of how I organize everything.

The idea for TaskForge came straight from my own frustrations. I spent a while trying to make Obsidian tasks work on mobile with plugins, scripts, and Shortcuts automations, and eventually realized the gap could only be filled by a purpose-built native app. I started building TaskForge in early 2025 and it grew into a real product pretty quickly once other Obsidian users started asking for access.

I use TaskForge every single day to manage my own tasks and projects. That daily use drives every feature decision, design choice, and bug fix. Things like GTD support, kanban boards, and deep linking all came from my own workflow needs, not market research.

Privacy is really important to me. TaskForge will never require an account, harvest your data, or track your behavior. Your tasks stay in your vault, on your device, synced through whatever service you already trust. If you have questions, feedback, or feature requests, feel free to reach out anytime at azhar@taskforge.md.

Why TaskForge?

There are plenty of task management apps out there, but TaskForge was created to fill a very specific gap. If you use Obsidian and want a genuinely native mobile experience for your tasks, TaskForge is built for you.

  • Built by someone who uses it daily. Every feature comes from real workflow needs, not market research.
  • Privacy-first by design. No cloud accounts, no servers storing your data, no analytics tracking your behavior. Your vault is yours.
  • A true native app, not a web wrapper. TaskForge is built with platform-specific technologies so it feels right on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Android.
  • Fairly priced. A one-time lifetime purchase means you own it forever. No subscriptions, no surprise price increases.

Our Philosophy

Privacy First

Your data stays in your vault, on your device. TaskForge never uploads your tasks to any server. There is no cloud account, no tracking, and no analytics. You are always in full control of your information, and your task data never leaves your chosen sync service.

Fair Pricing

A one-time purchase of $49.99 gives you lifetime access to every premium feature, today and in the future. No subscriptions, no recurring charges, and no feature gating that pressures you to upgrade. Free users get a generous set of core features forever.

Native Experience

Real native apps built with platform-specific technologies, not web wrappers or Electron shells. That means genuine home screen widgets, native push notifications, Siri shortcuts, and the smooth performance you expect from a first-class app on every platform.

Obsidian Compatibility

Full compatibility with the Obsidian Tasks plugin format. Your existing tasks, due dates, priorities, tags, and recurring schedules all work perfectly. TaskForge reads and writes the same markdown your vault already uses, so there is nothing to migrate.
