Your Galaxy to-do list on a Windows PC, with no Microsoft account

Samsung Reminder lives on the phone. To see it on a laptop, Samsung sends you to Microsoft To Do, or to a Samsung Browser panel that only some PCs can run. TaskForge is an app on your Galaxy and an app on Windows, reading the same markdown files from one folder you sync. Before you go further: the list is free, but reminders and the task widgets need Premium.

  • Android app and Windows app
  • Tasks in markdown files, no account
  • Reminders and task widgets are Premium

What Samsung offers for Reminder on a PC

Samsung describes two routes. The first is syncing Reminder with Microsoft To Do: you sign in with a Microsoft account in Reminder's settings and save new reminders to To Do by default. You then see them in To Do on your PC or on the web.

The second is Samsung Browser for Windows, which since August 2026 shows reminders from a linked Galaxy phone and lets you set new ones from its calendar side panel. It runs through Galaxy Connect, which needs Windows 11 on an x64 PC with an Intel or AMD processor and Intel Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chips, with the phone and PC signed in to the same Samsung account. ARM laptops are not supported.

Checked against Samsung's own pages in October 2026:

The same line on the phone and the laptop

The line at the top of this page is one task. 📅 2026-06-15 is the due date, ⏰ 10:00 the time, and #remind-at-due asks for a notification when it is due. It sits in a plain .md file. Open the folder on your Galaxy and on your PC and both apps show the same list, because they read the same file.

Tick the task off on the laptop and the line becomes - [x] once your sync tool has copied the file to the phone. There is no TaskForge server in between and no account to sign in to.

What is free and what needs Premium

Free: the task list in every format, adding, editing and completing tasks, recurring tasks, quick add, the Quick Settings tiles on Android, the built-in spaces including a Kanban board, the calendar with your phone's own calendar events, and the Daily note widget.

Premium: reminders and every other notification, the Spaces and calendar widgets on the Android home screen, your own spaces, creating and editing calendar events, and bulk edits.

Premium is a subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase, priced by country. A purchase belongs to the store you made it in. Buying on Google Play unlocks the Galaxy phone, not the Windows PC: Windows Premium is a separate purchase through a web checkout. Google Play offers a free trial where it has one, once per customer; the Windows build has no trial.

When Samsung Reminder fits better

Reminder is already on your Galaxy and does some things TaskForge does not. Stay with it if these matter more than having the list on your PC.

Reminders at a place

Reminder can alert you when you arrive at a place or leave it. TaskForge has no location reminders at all.

You already use Microsoft To Do

If you are happy with a Microsoft account, syncing Reminder to To Do puts your list on the PC with nothing new to install on the phone.

A free reminder that rings

TaskForge's list is free, but a reminder that actually goes off needs Premium, and a Play purchase does not carry over to Windows.

Widgets and calendar on the PC

TaskForge on Windows has no widgets and does not show calendar events yet. You get the task list, your notes and a system tray icon.

Moving your reminders over

TaskForge does not read or import Samsung Reminder. You move a list by writing it into a markdown file, one - [ ] line per item. Dates and reminders can go on the line, as below, or be added in the app afterwards.

Nothing in TaskForge touches your Samsung reminders, so you can keep them while you try it.

One file with a heading per list works, and so does one file per list. 🔁 marks a repeat rule.

Where it runs

  • Galaxy and other Android phones: from Google Play, Android 11 or later. Six home screen widgets and five Quick Settings tiles, including one for adding a task.
  • Windows: a signed installer from this site, Windows 10 version 1809 or later, including Windows 11, on x64 and ARM64. It can sit in the system tray. No widgets, and no calendar events yet.
  • iPhone, iPad and Mac too, if you have one of those.

TaskForge has no account and no sync server. A sync tool you choose moves the folder between the phone and the PC: Syncthing runs on both, and Dropbox, Google Drive and OneDrive work too. Pick one service per folder, because two services fighting over the same files can corrupt them.

Questions about Samsung Reminder on a PC

Can I use Samsung Reminder on a Windows PC?

Samsung's pages give two ways. Sync Reminder with Microsoft To Do and read the list in To Do on the PC or the web, or use Samsung Browser for Windows on a Windows 11 x64 PC with Intel Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, signed in to the same Samsung account as the phone.

Does TaskForge sync with Samsung Reminder?

No. TaskForge never reads Samsung Reminder, and there is no import. It keeps its own list in markdown files, and you move a list by writing it as - [ ] lines.

Does it work on a Galaxy Book or another laptop?

Any PC with Windows 10 version 1809 or later, on x64 or ARM64, runs the Windows app. That includes Windows 11 laptops with Snapdragon chips, which Galaxy Connect does not support.

Are reminders free?

No. Reminders, like every notification in TaskForge, are Premium. The list itself is free, and so are the Daily note widget and the Quick Settings tiles.

Does one purchase cover my phone and my PC?

No. A Google Play purchase unlocks Android. Windows Premium is bought separately through the web checkout the Windows app opens.

How do the phone and the PC stay in sync?

Through the folder. TaskForge runs no sync service, so a tool such as Syncthing, Dropbox or OneDrive copies the folder between the two, and both apps read the same files.

Do I need Obsidian?

No. TaskForge works on any folder of markdown files, or it can make a new one with a few sample tasks. If you already keep an Obsidian vault, it opens that as well.
