Calendar events are out of beta

Shipped in version 3.0.0

TaskForge can show the events from your device's calendar right next to your tasks: in the calendar view, in the agenda, and in your lists. That feature has carried a "Beta" label since it launched. It has earned its keep: the label is gone in this release.

Some of our own text also suggested that seeing those events required Premium. It never did. See "Calendar viewing is free, not Premium" for the full correction. The short version, and what has always been true:

What's free

Seeing your events is free for everyone. Turn on calendar events under Settings → Calendar events and TaskForge will show your device's calendar alongside your tasks:

  • Events appear in the calendar view and the agenda, color-coded by calendar.
  • You choose which of your calendars to show.
  • Events show up in search and in any list sections that include events.
  • Home-screen widgets that show events work too.

There's nothing to buy and nothing to configure beyond granting the usual calendar permission your device asks for.

What's premium

Changing events is the premium part. Creating a new event, editing an existing one, deleting one, or dragging an event to a new time on the calendar requires TaskForge Premium.

If you're not a premium user, all the buttons are still there, and tapping "new event" or trying to edit one simply shows the upgrade screen instead of making the change. Nothing is hidden; you just can't write to your calendar from inside TaskForge without premium.

No more beta notice

The one-time notice you used to see when enabling calendar events is gone too. Enabling calendar events now just works, for every user.

Notes

  • Nothing about who can see events changed in this release, only the text that described it. If you were already a premium user, you can view and edit events exactly as before.
  • Your device may still ask for calendar permission the first time; that's the operating system's own privacy prompt, not a TaskForge restriction.
