Filter your calendar and notes as you type
Shipped in version 3.0.0
The omnibar's quick filter used to work only inside a task list. Now it works in the calendar and in notes too.
What it does
Open the omnibar and switch to filter mode (the funnel glyph, next to the magnifying glass). Type, and:
- In the calendar, both the grid and the agenda narrow to matching items. Tasks match on their title, description, tags, contexts and projects; events match on their title, description, location and calendar name.
- In notes, the browser narrows to notes whose title matches. A match inside a collapsed folder still shows up. The filter never hides something that matched.
Clear the field, or leave the calendar or notes, and everything comes back.
Things worth knowing
- Accents and scripts don't get in the way. Typing
cafefinds Café, and the same matching works for non-Latin scripts. This is the identical matching the rest of the app uses, so a query behaves the same wherever you type it. - Days with no matches disappear from the agenda rather than sitting there as empty date headers. The day you have selected always keeps its place, so you never lose your position.
- The overdue and pending counts follow the filter. If you narrow to two tasks, the summary card says two, and tapping it opens a screen showing those same two rather than the unfiltered list.
- Quick filter narrows what you are looking at; it does not search. It matches text as you type. For ranked results across everything, use full search (the magnifying glass), which still searches everywhere regardless of where you are.
Platform differences
None. It behaves the same on iPhone, iPad, Android and Mac. On desktop the filter glyph has the usual hover and keyboard-focus behaviour, and the notes rail filters alongside the main browser.
