Faster navigation and more reliable deep links
Shipped in version 3.0.0
Version 3.0.0 reworks how you move around the home screen: switching lists, toggling the calendar, and following links into the app. The changes are mostly about feel: things that used to flash, jump, or occasionally do nothing now happen instantly and predictably. There are also a few new deep links to reach filtered views directly, and every link you've already saved keeps working.
Instant, flicker-free lists
Opening a specific list (by tapping a tab, swiping between lists, or launching one from a home-screen widget) used to briefly show the first list and then jump to the one you asked for. That flash is gone. The correct list is now chosen before the first frame is drawn, so you land exactly where you intended with no visible reload.
Switching is also lighter under the hood: the home screen now stays mounted and simply updates, instead of being torn down and rebuilt every time you open a different list. The result is smoother transitions and a more responsive feel, especially on large vaults.
Deep links open the right place
A few navigation links could previously be ignored: for example, tapping a list link while you were looking at the calendar would sometimes leave you on the calendar. Now:
- A space link always switches to list view and opens that space.
- A calendar link always opens the calendar (optionally on a specific date).
- A search link always opens search (optionally with your query prefilled).
You can also link straight to a filtered view: taskforge:///tag/urgent,
taskforge:///context/home, and taskforge:///project/Website each open every
task carrying that tag, context, or project.
When you swipe between lists, the link that represents "where you are" now stays in sync too, so a link you copy or share reflects the list you're actually looking at.
Spaces get a canonical address, and old links still work
Now that lists are spaces, the address for opening one is
taskforge:///space/<space name>. Any link you've already captured (in
Obsidian, a launcher like Alfred or Raycast, a Shortcut, or a home-screen widget)
keeps working: taskforge:///list/<name> still resolves as a deprecated alias
that redirects to the space, so there is nothing you have to change. New links
the app hands you (the "copy link" button on a space) use the /space/ form.
taskforge:///task/<task id>, taskforge:///calendar,
taskforge:///?search=true, and the rest behave just as they did before. One
note on task links: a task's ID comes from its title and file, so a saved
taskforge:///task/... link stops resolving once you rename the task or move its
file. Copy a fresh link after those edits.
Find every deep link in one place
The in-app Deep Link Reference (Settings → Integrations → Deep Links) shows a
copyable URL format for every part of the app: the home screen, spaces, task
details, the calendar, search, tag/context/project filtered views, and new-task
links. Each entry is tappable to copy, and space/task entries include a hint
pointing you to the in-app "copy link" buttons that produce a ready-to-use link.
The new-task section lists every supported parameter, including the _skip…
flags that create a task without applying one of your configured defaults.
You can also browse the full reference on the website's Deep Linking page.
