View and edit a note's raw source
Shipped in version 3.0.0
Opening a note in TaskForge normally shows the rendered view: headings at their real size, checkboxes you can tap, callouts with their color band. Sometimes you want the file exactly as it sits on disk instead, to check how a table is written or to fix a frontmatter field by hand.
The note view's ⋯ menu has a View source item that switches to the whole file as plain markdown text, frontmatter fences and all. Tap the same menu again and choose View rendered to switch back.
Editing in source view
Source view is a full editor, not just a preview. Type anywhere in the file, including the frontmatter block, and your changes save the same way a block edit does: when you tap out of the field, switch back to the rendered view, or leave the note. There is no save button to hunt for.
Saving routes through the same write path the block editor uses, so line endings and a byte-order mark are preserved exactly. If you open source view and change nothing, the file on disk stays byte-for-byte identical.
If another app or device changed the note while you had it open in source view, TaskForge does not overwrite that change silently. It shows a small banner with two choices: keep your version, or take the one on disk. This is the same conflict prompt the block editor shows.
What it looks like
Source view drops the note-editor chrome: no block borders, no property pills, no live checkboxes. It's monospace text in one scroll, matching what a plain text editor would show you.
Where to find it
Open any note, tap the ⋯ menu in the top bar, and choose View source. The choice only lasts for this viewing session. Reopen the note later and it starts back in the normal rendered view.
