TaskForge 3.0: your AI can read your tasks.

One to-do app for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android and Windows

TaskForge has a native app on all five, and each one reads the same folder of markdown files. Read this before you install: there is no TaskForge account and no built-in sync. Your list reaches a second device only when a sync app you already use copies that folder across.

What moves the folder

iPhone, iPad and Mac only
iCloud Drive, with no setup.
Any mix with Android or Windows
Syncthing, Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive, which you install and point at the folder.
  • No account, no sign-up
  • Free to download on all five
  • Premium is bought per store: App Store, Google Play or the Windows checkout
  • Windows has no widgets or calendar events

The same file on every device

Every TaskForge app reads and writes plain text. A task is one checkbox line inside an ordinary .md note, like the one at the top of this page. Tick it on your Android phone and the brackets get an x, with the completion date added to the end of the line.

That edit is written to the phone's copy of the file straight away. Your PC shows it once the sync app has copied the file over. With no connection, the edit waits on the phone until the sync app can send it.

Your spaces and settings travel the same way. TaskForge keeps them in a TaskForge › Settings folder inside the one you sync, so a space you set up on the Mac turns up on the Windows PC.

Which sync app fits your devices

Pick by the devices you own. Use one sync service per folder: two services moving the same files can corrupt them.

iPhone, iPad and Mac
iCloud Drive. Nothing to set up. Turn off Optimize Storage so the files stay downloaded.
iPhone and a Windows PC
Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive, installed on both. On iPhone, open TaskForge before and after editing so the file provider has caught up, which avoids conflicts.
Android and a Windows PC or Mac
Syncthing copies the folder device to device with no cloud copy. The Windows and Mac builds come from syncthing.net; on the phone, use a community app such as Syncthing-Fork. Or use a cloud drive, with a folder-sync app such as FolderSync keeping a folder on the phone matched to it.
iPhone and Android
Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive, with a folder-sync app on the Android side. Obsidian Sync also works on both phones, but it only runs while Obsidian is open, so TaskForge edits travel the next time you open Obsidian.
A vault you already sync
Keep what you have. TaskForge reads whatever the folder holds on each device.

If two devices often edit before they have synced, turn on task files. Each task becomes its own note with its fields in YAML frontmatter, so edits to two different tasks never land in the same file.

What each platform gets

Tasks, quick add, the calendar view, search, the built-in spaces and notes (still marked beta) are on all five. Free and Premium are the same everywhere. These are the differences.

Windows

A signed installer from this site, Windows 10 version 1809 or later, x64 and ARM64. It can close to the system tray and start at login. No widgets, and the calendar shows tasks but not calendar events yet.

Mac

From the Mac App Store or as a direct download, macOS 13 or later. A menu bar list shows open tasks from a space you pick, and widgets need macOS 14.

iPhone and iPad

From the App Store, iOS 15.6 or later. Home Screen widgets need iOS 17, and Control Center controls for quick add need iOS 18.

Android

From Google Play, Android 11 or later. The Spaces widget (Premium) lets you tick a task without opening the app, and Quick Settings tiles open quick add.

On iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android the calendar also shows the events already on the device, for free. The task and calendar widgets are Premium; the Daily note widget is free.

Premium is bought separately in each store

Everything on this page works in the free version except reminders, the task and calendar widgets and your own custom spaces, which are Premium. With no account, there is nothing to tie a purchase in one store to the others.

App Store

One purchase covers iPhone, iPad and the Mac App Store build.

Google Play

Covers your Android devices. It does not unlock Apple or Windows.

Web checkout

Windows and the direct Mac download buy through a web checkout. The confirmation email has a link that switches Premium on for that device.

If you only want reminders on your phone and use the PC to plan, one purchase on the phone is enough: the PC still reads and edits the same tasks in the free version. The free trial is offered only on the App Store and Google Play, once per customer.

When an app with its own sync fits better

A folder you sync yourself is one more thing to set up. For some people that is the wrong trade.

You want to sign in and have it sync

A hosted app skips the sync step. Microsoft To Do runs on Windows, Mac, iPhone, Android and the web and syncs through a Microsoft account (Microsoft's system requirements page, as of October 2026). Your tasks then live on its servers.

You use Linux

There is no TaskForge Linux app. Todoist lists apps for Linux, Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad and Android (Todoist downloads page, as of October 2026).

You share lists with other people

TaskForge has no shared lists, assignees or comments. Two people can sync one folder, but nothing stops them editing the same line at once.

You need the list in a browser

There is no web app. If you have to reach your tasks from a computer where you can't install anything, a hosted service is the answer.

Questions about using one to-do app across devices

Does TaskForge sync between iPhone and Windows?

Not by itself. TaskForge has no sync service. Put the folder in Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive, install that service on both the iPhone and the PC, and open the same folder in TaskForge on each. iCloud Drive is the no-setup choice only when every device is an iPhone, iPad or Mac.

Do I need an account to use it on several devices?

No. TaskForge has no accounts and no login on any platform. The devices share a folder, not a profile. Installing from the App Store or Google Play uses the store account your device already has.

Is there a to-do app for PC and Android that stays in sync?

TaskForge runs on Windows and Android and reads the same folder on both. Syncthing keeps that folder matched between the phone and the PC with no cloud copy, using a community Android app such as Syncthing-Fork. Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive work too, with a folder-sync app such as FolderSync on the phone.

What happens if I edit on two devices before they sync?

Edits to different files don't touch each other. Two edits to the same file can collide, as they would with any synced file. Task files avoid most of this: each task is its own file, so only two edits to the same task can clash.

Does one Premium purchase cover all my devices?

Only within one store. An App Store purchase covers iPhone, iPad and the Mac App Store build. Google Play and the web checkout used on Windows and the direct Mac download are bought separately. The free version on every platform reads and edits the same tasks.

Is there a Linux or web version?

No. TaskForge runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android and Windows. There is no Linux app and no web app.

Can I open the same tasks in Obsidian?

Yes. The folder can be an Obsidian vault, and TaskForge reads the Obsidian Tasks emoji format along with the Dataview and Task Genius field styles. Obsidian is optional: a plain folder of .md files works the same way.

Install it on the devices you have

Free to download on every platform. Open a folder you already sync, or start fresh with a few sample tasks.
